it doesnt matter as long as its not gr(gang related) racial or disrespectful in anyway. and if its on your back then it can be covered up while in uniform so yes your good to go and good luck
i have a metallic looking cross on my chest with my last name going horizontal. you will have to get a waiver but as long is it is covered up when in uniform (which yours will be) it will be very easy and not be a big deal. just tell your recruiter and when you go to meps they will ask why you got it and what it means to you(tell them what you told us). like previously posted as long as it is not gang related or racial it will be totally ok. they will take a picture of it at meps (atleast the Marines do anyways) and thats about it. no worries.
the rule of thumb for tattoos in the military is no more than 25 percent of the exposed area while in uniform with your BDU or ABU top off. Also as the other person stated nothing gang related or degrading or anything anyone could be offended by. I also think its nothing allowed from the neck up.
thats fine.
Unfortunately the iron cross also has Nazi connotations. Expect a lot of push-back on that one. If it was a Celtic Cross or crucifix that would be one thing but an iron cross is trouble.
Two of my co-workers had to cover theirs up before they were even allowed in bootcamp. but once in bootcamp I saw iron cross tattoos all over the place. I guess it depends on what your recruiter says.
